Whatever happened to that guy who cut off his own arm after it was trapped under a boulder? You know, that climber who used his own pocket knife and repelled down the mountain and walked another 14 miles until he met someone?
I think it was the same week that that adolescent surfer-girl got chomped by a shark. . .
That was an amazing story - the gnaw your foot off to escape the bear trap kind of event - I don't remember the follow up to that, though. The surfer-girl is definitely back surfing.
The how-to sequence for the tourniquet is an amazing one from a boy scout manual - it seems to leave out all of the thrashing, screaming, and throwing-up that should accompany the careful tying of knots and twisting of sticks. These contour line people are so darn calm!
